Goretzka has reportedly made up his mind to join Arsenal for free next season.
Arsenal will open talks with Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka over a proposed move to the Premier League club next season.
Arsenal have been eyeing Goretzka who is out of contract in the summer and will be free to negotiate with any club from January.
The 22-year-old has caught the eyes of the likes of Manchester City and Juventus but Arsenal are said to be in a strong position to land the midfielder on a free next summer.
Goretzka is aware of Arsenal's interest and has reportedly made up his mind to join the Premier League giants.
The Germany international could be Wenger’s replacement for Mesut Ozil who could be departing on a free when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Wenger successfully signed Sead Kolasinac from Schalke on a free last summer and is hoping to get Goretzka.
Arsenal have in recent years intensified their scouting presence in Germany where they have signed Kolasinac and Granit Xhaka in the past 18 months.
