Operations at JKIA resume after a bomb scare, one passenger arrested

Nairobi, KENYA: Operations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi were temporarily suspended on Wednesday afternoon following a bomb scare on a Kenya airways (KQ) flight to Johannesburg.

“At approximately 1300 GMT today, Kenya Airways was notified of a possible bomb threat on one of our flights,” said KQ in a statement.

According to the statement from the airline, the threat was reported on flight KQ 762 which was departing from JKIA to OR-Tambo International Airport Johannesburg.

Passenger who raised the false alarm was arrested, while the rest of the passengers and crew were re-screened and processed for take-off.

The plane was also cleared for a 7:30pm departure after undergoing an extensive security check.
